COVERAGE. CLARITY. LOCAL SUPPORT.

Auto Insurance Coverage, Explained

An auto policy can combine protection for other people, damage to your own vehicle and eligible medical or other benefits. A useful comparison identifies those parts separately, with the limits, deductibles and exclusions shown on each proposal.

Start with liability and state-specific benefits

Liability generally addresses covered injury or property damage you cause to others. Medical, PIP and uninsured/underinsured motorist arrangements vary by state and policy. Review the elections and forms for the vehicle’s registration state rather than assuming one package fits every location.

Separate collision from comprehensive

Collision generally addresses covered crashes involving the insured vehicle. Comprehensive generally addresses covered non-collision events such as theft, hail or an animal strike. Ask about the deductible and settlement terms for each, as well as lender or lease requirements.

Make optional protection explicit

Rental reimbursement, roadside help, gap protection and custom-equipment coverage have distinct conditions. The informal phrase full coverage does not identify a standardized policy. Ask for the actual selections and compare the same package across insurers.

Information is educational and does not amend or replace an insurance contract. Products, eligibility, limits and pricing vary by insurer, location and individual circumstances. Policy terms, exclusions and applicable rules control. A quote request does not bind coverage.
